2. The employee’s legal right to work in the UK

As the number of migrant workers increase and the home office clamp down on illegal workers it is very important that an employer checks their employee’s eligibility to work in the UK to avoid any fines or legal prosecution.

The government have a very useful tool to establish if a potential employee is entitled to work in the UK. I would suggest that you have the worker with you at the time of filling in the checklist and any supporting documents that they may have proving their identity and eligibility to work in the UK.
